I think it’s more often the blue-collar workers save the day. Nurses, construction dudes, electricians, clerks, landscapers, plumbers, cops, firemen, EMT workers, etc. etc. The very people we always denigrate. Camille Paglia goes on about this at length.

Of course this is the experts versus common people trope. That one I think is also about 50-50. Sometimes the experts have it spot on, like the doctors this time around. Sometimes the experts are completely wrong, like most economists. It’s a little scattershot.
