Damn cache invalidation. My plan was to coast on the strength of past writing and reputation till retirement. Now I’ll have to do new post-pandemic relevant work to make money. This isn’t going to be the comfy late middle age I was hoping for.

Also retirement may be toast. They’ll raid social security to pay for this probably.
If Moore’s law ends we’re in deep shit. Don’t see any other large wealth-creation engine booting up.
Just 2 more doublings 🤞
If we can get to 3nm by 2030 my life at least is probably secure

find someone who you can just brain dump to, and have them write it into a coherent structure. probably leverage somehow.
then polish their draft into a finished product. 80/20 of content creation.

You really think the pandemic is going to require a totally new corpus, - making it a bigger paradigm shift than 911, on par w/ end of the Cold War - or can you just delete the scenes where the family hugs goodbye at the departure gate, so to speak?

Is it okay to say I saw something like this coming to justify my lack of work and productivity before this pandemic came?

I'm not sure why you think you can't continue to coast on your reputation.
Will the people who pay you think that you're contributions are irrelevant now? I would guess that insightful guy still equals insightful guy.
