Then they should have said that. Lying and stating something the the scientific literature clearly goes against just erodes trust in public health officials at a time when their guidance is needed most.

I think you need to follow the process of doing a systematic review and grade the studies and synthesize, instead of just listing the 34, until that is done, I am unconvinced. China has a lot more other measures in place apart from forced use of masks that reduced cases.

This is too simplistic. From the jump, the CDC has said if you are infected, you should wear a mask. What the mask doesn't protect you from is breathing in the virus.
