Actually using my balcony regularly to read and work for the first time in 8m in this apartment.
I’ve often rented places with balconies and ended up not using them and regretting the higher rent.
Now I know. Balconies are quarantine insurance. Really glad to have one rn.

Christopher Alexander says in Pattern Language that balconies with less than 6” in depth are rarely used and are thus an anti-pattern. Last fall I moved into a room with a balcony that is roughly the same size as the room. Very good luck

Yeah mine is nice and deep. My disuse was more about never being around during the day and a loud restaurant across at night.

I barely used mine until my partner got fed up and put a bunch of nice furniture out there last summer. It's wonderful now.
Something that she hasn't neglected to remind me about over the last few weeks. Bless her.
