I don’t think young people quite get how long they will have to live with the memory of how they acted during this period, memorialized in photos and videos. It’s one thing to make ok-boomer jokes, quite another to allow yourself to be written into history as the boomer-killers.

Sure the epidemiological science here is uncertain and operating with low levels of monitoring/data but that’s all the more reason to err on the side of making sure you’re doing no harm.

I like Newsom. He does a decent job of only thing I expect from a public leader at a time like this: focus people on how they can help. Listening to Trump’s pressers, I end up thinking about how he can do more harm and how I can protect myself. Boosting best vs worst instincts.

They allowed the LA Marathon to go ahead after the state of emergency was called. Imagine the number of cascading network spreads with just *that* decision.

Not gonna second guess/armchair quarterback those kinds of things in fast changing situation. All you can ask is that they do better than the actively malicious/self-seeking kinds of anti-leadership we saw at the federal level early on...claims of hoaxes and stuff. My bar is low.
