Getting much grief on Twitter for forwarding this recommendation that people without symptoms shouldn't wear masks. has the same guidelines. Twitterati saying wear masks, handkerchiefs, saari on face for reduced infection. Any actual experts want to comment?

I think common sense is correct. First principles suggest any barrier helps. Even if it only stops large drops and discourages face touching. They’re trying to conserve masks for healthworkers which is right thing to do. Improvised masks should probably be washed/sanitized etc.

I’m wearing masks as well, but I’m cognisant I’m of the fact that masks give a sense of security which can easily make one lax. So masks are only helpful if you’re still paranoid as if you’re wearing no masks.
