Look at the people who decide/enact. eg., Kerala has been exposed & subsequently proactively testing/quarantine etc. 1. Kerala's excellent health minister https://twitter.com/shailajateacher/status/1237772779430133760?s=19 … 2. India's health minister who has a bigger challenge has been at work too

Kerala is an anomaly, for quite a lot of reasons and have historically had health case indicators at par with Europe , in addition to very literacy rates and very different political make up ( full disclosure was born in Kerala trained in medicine there )

So true about the nonsense being spread on WhatsApp. Unbelievable amounts of BS and conspiracy theories. All shared without an ounce of critical thought. I learnt that the virus is a bio weapon, manufactured by pharmaceutical companies, and can be cured by cow piss (of course).

The relative lack of cases in India was very surprising to me too. Also telling that despite worse average sanitation, India is never the source of these outbreaks.

Maybe it's the vegetarians?

I would say India is B- as I am experiencing it here. They have fast reaction mechanisms on reported cases, airport checks, efficiently bringing back citizens/students etc.-Better than US. But nowhere like HK, Korea, Singapore levels on testing, infra etc.
