College towns are the best tradeoff between dense urban and small town living. They’re perfect except for the damn students. College towns for people who are done with education would be nice.

Cambridge kind of achieves this. A tech-hub surrounding the university where washed-up sandel-wearing techistocracy can get paid to stare into the middle distance.
The students are a minimal problem. They have their enclosures.

Replying to
a neighborhood in SF struck that balance for me — Cole Valley. An actual valley that semi cut it off from other neighborhoods, lots of interesting people, at least when I lived there. Maybe that UCSF is nearby wasn’t unrelated
