My top line is that I have a lot of sympathy for Mal’s “the system will destroy us all, unless we destroy it first” attitude, and I think it’s valuable to have that voice amplified loudly.

BUT, from a practical point of view, I think if we give massive subsidies to (energy companies) to lead the energy transition, then at least we will have a transition!

I’d rather see a global carbon tax treaty with rates set punitively high, even at the risk of destabilizing the entire economy until we find new energy sources, but I am not sure that that’s practical either.
