How do you stop exploring irrelevant tangents and focus more on what you’re “supposed” to be doing? (I suppose I’m asking that ironically, but maybe there’s a part of me which also isn’t.)

A clarification in response to some of the replies I’ve been seeing: I’m thinking about long timescales (weeks to months) rather than day-to-day productivity.
