Premium mediocre/domestic cozy has been a surreal ride into a Baudrilladian simulation for me. My reaction to manufactured culture somehow gets sucked into that culture’s awareness of itself and boomerangs back at me. Very weird. Funhouse mirrors everywhere.

This does not generally happen with other topics, like org politics or tech etc, when something I write gets noticed/popular within the world it’s about. There’s a clear distinction between the thing and the commentary on the thing. Insiders argue with me as an outsider.

But with culture/design, the thing *is* in large part conversations about the thing. When you notice and talk about it you help construct it. Happened once before with my future post which briefly had a bit of a funhouse mirror refraction journey through the UX/design world
