truly consumer computing is garbage, a scourge upon all decent peoplepic.twitter.com/1fhlG5hGPf
Ubuntu is Linux on easy mode, right? I think that might be more tolerable despite the likelihood of needing to futz around and configure stuff

update: installed Elementary, spent an hour trying to figure out why wifi was totally absent from the network manager GUI thingy even though I said to include third-party drivers. I know what I'm going to do next, not looking for advice rn, but ARGH I hate this so much
(what I'm planning to do next is install plain ol' ubuntu-flavored Ubuntu and hope to god that doing the most boring possible option is the way to go in order to minimize the Linux-ness of Linux)
btw there is a documented fix for my exact issue so I guess I'll try this tomorrow AM when my blood pressure is back down from the rage zonehttps://medium.com/@kimiyukiyukawa/installing-rtl8821ce-network-controller-on-ubuntu-335d8ccb8a92 …
I can't stop thinking about how you can walk into Best Buy and spend $500 and end up with HP-infested Windows from hell
I'm a whiny baby about dealing w/ Linux, but think of all the people who don't even know it exists
I need an actual computer that knows about files and stuff
teach the computer, w love and patience,
