And without cost increase, my operating profit from Amazon affiliate income would have been about $265 instead of a loss of $381. Moral of the story: the bar for profitably running a medium-high traffic blog as a robust, stable, CDNed, spike-tolerant WordPress site just went up.
But I agree, in some big ways it would be a mistake. I'd have to give up experiments like blogchaining etc

Maybe you need to launch a new site to experiment with new models / tech. I feel like WP becomes barnacle crusted after a long period

I might be done with hands-on experimentation with new models and piggyback on stuff like Roam and Substack. We'll see. It does feel to me like blogging as such is over, and wordpress has become more a high-end CMS for businesses and things
