Interesting, I hadn’t heard of wattpad. Sounds like substack for serialized fiction except you don’t charge subscription and the idea is to break into your target genre publishing industry? wattpad.com

These seem like vertical versions of Patreon... I think I don't like the communitarian focus or platform level control model. But I can see it would work for community centric writing.

Wattpad seems better at monetization; Royal Road basically just makes money from running ads, while Royal Road authors make money by putting an author's note at the end of each chapter that says, "Like this story? Check out my Patreon, where chapters are posted 1 week early!"
