Hmm. Argument for reviving serialization as default rather than exception perhaps?

Almost every book I've written, I've written 20 minutes at a time. Small bursts of focus, with space between. Sometimes in those bursts, I write, and sometimes I stare out windows, but the fact is, you can make big things over small moments.

Benefits of serialization have been obvious for a while now. Works in indie, in other markets, works for authors. Matches binge culture and short attention span of the market. I'd split 100K novels into 3 and quickly release in paperback for any major publisher who'd let me.

That 1K format has been shown to work really well on sites like Wattpad and in fanfiction, no doubt it'd work. But it's tough to ascribe value to an aggregation of low-value bits. I need books on shelves in schools, libraries & stores, so need a familiar size that feels valuable.
