The older I get the less patience I have for grinder work. Stuff that should be robot work but has a few janky bits that make it human. Often just arbitrary protocol shit that needs to be looked up.

For example: compare overlap on my 3 email lists across 2 services. Download, rationalize format, dump into single file, sort, bin, count. Should be a “robot, compute Venn diagram, here’s my login.” Damn things can beat us at Go but not do simple shut like this.

You could do this in a few lines of code. Issue is nobody would pay for such a robot in the quantities necessary to justify the upfront development. Robots aren’t necessarily hard, they are just hyper specific.

Lots of implicit knowledge and context though. Might be money in a virtual assistant service where the human “assistants” know how to code and can toss together little bots like this on demand.
