It is obvious that all religion is escapism but it’s not so obvious that all escapism is religion religion: belief in the net benevolence of things you cannot control if you commit to not observing them as well if you don’t look at it, it will be nice to you

Ah they wouldn’t be both the same X. More like duals. Surrendering to X = escaping Y. With X, Y being consistent and equivalent bases for characterizing that particular religiosity pattern.

It does but takes more work to demonstrate for some. There us definitely a strong surrender element in Buddhism to.
