SF premise. Alien super beings fork earth into 2, pro-Trump and anti-Trump. For stability forked-out people are replaced with harmless npc robots that can backfill basic functions indefinitely (so no rapture style instant plane crashes) but nothing non-formulaic. What happens?

The replacement assumption is tricky to imagine, but I’m thinking something like near-future plausible AIs. If today’s AI practitioner consensus is that a function can be automated, our robot replacements can do it. If not they say “I’d prefer not to.” Title: The Bartleby Schism

Interesting thing is that in this scenario, entire large coastal cities would be almost entirely roboticized in pro-trump fork, and entire heartland towns would be roboticized in anti-trump fork Very macro fork here.

It would look eerily like not much had happened - both sides mostly see caricatures of the other and self-segregate to a significant degree already

Except slowly all executive function would unravel. In pro-Trump world, coastal doctors/surgeons would only do very routine procedures. In anti-trump fork, half the CEOs of corps no longer make any difficult decisions.

1. I read that as San Fran, so I imagined SF forked along the axis of tech. V1 believes that tech is human right, V2 believes tech is a function of the market. The fork happened a while ago. One side got an iPhone. I wonder how the other side is doing? (2. also SF=Salesforce)

What happens? All the people who agreed on a side (Pro vs Anti-Trump) immediately find a new fissure line on which to disagree... The presence (or absence) of the robots changes nothing either way.
