While the asciension of this ‚Bildungsbürgertum’ or ‚Boirgeoisie’ was linked to their economical success, WWI & WWII literally mashed up the whole society. A broader inclusion beyond ‚cultural elites‘ was intended in a democratic system, so art became a vector in societal change
