“Investing in people” is an oddly alienating concept whether the institution is an individual, institution, or the state. It kinda annoys me. Some notion of getting quantum-entangled with people captures the positive outcomes much better.

Of course it's alienating. It's the commoditization of labor. This is literally one of Marxs main thesis.

Fair but you might find that gives you blindspots. There is much more sophisticated modern theory such as Thomas Pickettys empirical economics work. Also is worth checking out. Not everything out there is Che shirts etc.
