I love how extremely unglamorous real fight videos are. Expectation versus reality w/r/t fights is John Wick versus a toddler face-planting. Awesome that I can learn this without having to get into fights!

Fights are not the same as violence. Former is ritualised, social performance art.
Violence is about hitting hard, fast, close and with surprise (paraphrasing Rory Miller). And it’s asymmetrical.
Totally different approaches.

yeah I've read that book, you don't need to condescendingly paraphrase it to me, but thanks

Not an attempt to be condescending. Glad you’ve seen Miller’s stuff, though.

lecture mode rarely plays well in replies, fwiw. "Have you heard of... ?" goes way better.

I’ll go for that next time. Still seriously glad you’ve read Miller. Seems to me that understanding of visceral things like violence is on the decline.

my delivery was probably overly harsh, sigh. I get fed up and snap at people and then a couple hours later I'm like.... that could have been said much more nicely. workin on it. is way better at this >.<

Funnily enough, my reaction to your reaction had the hallmarks of a minor adrenal dump. One of the few times I’ve *really* understood conflation between one’s ego and ideas.

Damn. You young people and your reasonable conflict resolution. At this rate I have to worry about how we’ll keep the internet of beefs going.
Conflict reminds people how to be civil. Guess you’ll have to start work on “Internet of Peace, Love and Positivity”...
(P.s. IntOfBeef has (positively) skewed how I engage online, so thanks)
