I do wonder how much of all this is another version of the "americanization+medicalization" of what is essentially a cultural phenomenon. We learn to deal with these issues through our culture, whether that's "stiff upper lip" or "let it all hang out". 1/

But the "american medicalization" of trauma response is an insistence that, no, there's only one right way of handing this (coincidentally it's *our* way), and I'm not sure it's best for the world, or for those touched by it, especially those from outside US culture. //
