If you don’t get more specialized as you age, you have to become more extroverted. Sociability is kinda the default specialization. I’ll never be a party animal or conference circuit business butterfly but I’m amazed at how much “sociability” is learnable.

In consulting there seems to be a correlation between the amount of extraversion required for an activity and the rate it commands. On the low end, writing and content development, then: workshopping, leading projects, keynoting.

"Executive sponsoring" is a sweet spot for introverted consultants: high extraversion in brief, manageable bursts with outsized rates. Classic middle management do-little role. Soul deadening in the long run.
