Also I think I just figured out the right way to actually model retirement in 2020, taking in to account both personal circumstances uncertainty and societal uncertainty. Needs 3x work to model in my spreadsheet though.
Still I have ballpark figured out. Bounding boxes ftw.

I’m also open to moving to Japan (not in Tokyo) for lower cost of living. Not that interested in Latam or SEA as my kids are bilingual/cultural - US/Japan. But I might also just do startups for 10-15 more years. Dunno

My computation for a couple retiring in the more expensive parts of the developed world (SG, London, Bay Area) with one child's education and post-retirement healthcare for the couple and both sets of parents was ~$10M.

Of course this is with the (paranoid?) assumption that there is no reliance on govt for healthcare - all healthcare will be covered privately.
