🧐 this thing isn’t going to stop. And I still haven’t figured out how to make any money off it. From a blogger perspective, “premium mediocre” is itself a premium mediocre idea. Lots of glossy attention and traffic, no options to monetize that I actually want to exercise.https://twitter.com/amandamull/status/1219663251623071745 …

Book co-authorship with an aspiring writer. 1. Harness connections to get a good publisher. 2. Explain to young online writer value of mentorship in writing and being published. 3. Have him do most of writing. Split profits.

This is a long term play that I predict will eventually monetize huge (not pm) for you, though you won’t be able to attribute it back. brand building, basically

Meh, I've been through a few such cycles. Brand equity++ is overrated. At most you get an ebook and a couple of expenses-only speaking gigs. Anything more requires investing further...airport book, workshop, trend reports... fads are way more manufactured than people realize

What would be the premium mediocre way to handle it? Sell endorsements of premium-mediocre things? Like how blogs have badges and stuff...

Yep, after a quick explanation, my whole crew of friends picked up on “premium mediocre”. Now we can’t stop relating it to our middle income millennial lives. Thanks @vgr, I think you’re gonna have to just make shirts and hats and shit, with your catchy isms and phraseologies.

Let’s talk. I’m incorporating premium mediocre into my graduate thesis as well. It should be the basis of brand planning (not kidding). It is an absolutely commercial concept. To put premium mediocre into the same bucket as normcore or health goth is doing it a disservice.

btw i mentionned normcore because it was also a concept from a larger theory (khole's youth mode) that got misinterpreted by 'comfort society critique magazines' and then became a mainstream idea. Also was health goth ever more than a fashion style?
