Is Iraq a fake state under US protection? My guess is that that's what it is SUPPOSED to be, the US is too incompetent to actually run such a fake state well.

Realistically, of course, you can't run the world that way bcs commerce can't thrive. What's the legal system? You can get basic commerce running on an ambiguous legal system, but no-one's going to invest billions in such a situation of vagueness. THAT's why it's problematic.
