Trying to recall the name of a Tolstoy short story about a flighty woman who falls seriously ill and falls in love with her serious doctor, but then gets better and falls out of love again because now she finds him boring. Help?

aside, there's a funny story in the martian chronicles where the last man on mars is excited to meet the last woman on mars and then discovers/decides that he can't stand her

I don't know, but the Prairie Home Companion once had this great spoof opera about a man who thinks he has fallen madly in love but it turns out to be the flu

It sounds like a remix of two stories:
Turgenev's 'The District Doctor' (ill woman falls in love with a doctor) and Chekhov's 'Ionych' (doctor falls in love with a woman but after a while (and rejection) finds her boring)
