I still don’t really believe in dark matter. Very sketchy stuff. And unsatisfying.

I meant it in the sense that "finding a lump of dark matter" means "so, this is the value of dark_matter_var we need to set for this region of space to make the model fit," as far as I can see

Yeah, but at least it’s a systematic field of varying fudge instead of a single macro knob like an interest rate. Dark matter is a Keynesian fudge, dark energy is a monetarist fudge.

the easy path is - galaxy rotation curves (radio astronomy Doppler shift of H-line) - compare with visible matter inside the radius at each radius - the speed of rotation is too big to be sustained by the visible matter. So—
