one workaround is to nerdsnipe smart people like @patio11 or @vgr with interesting Q's, if they're in the right headspace for being distracted with something fun, everyone gets to enjoy it. being a good-faith nerdsniper is very powerful. it might be abt 30-40% of my twitter gamehttps://twitter.com/visakanv/status/1214755606940139521 …

actually this also partially explains how/why I enjoy my life so much despite not really having a lot of money – because I get to enjoy things that even people with 3-4x more money than me don't get to enjoy. This is close to the most valuable insight I possess

I literally would not be doing my job if I did not tell you that this same factor would also solve your money problem. (“Problem” in air quotes.)

yeah I'm operating with the assumption that this is true. it's already about 30%-ish "solved", I expect to solve at least 80% of it this year, and I think by next year I will be freed up to take on much more interesting and exciting problems

Wait what Nerdsniping solves money problems?

No, being sufficiently interesting is (against most people’s intuitions) a professional skill sufficient to run a business on. (Most models for it are terrible but if you’re sufficiently interesting you can trade that for better models, too ;) )

"make vgr rich-enough to not care about money" is actually a pretty good outcome for the nerd-web

I agree. It’s a pretty good outcome for almost anything.
