Yes it depends on your selection. There are a few reporters and OSINT war trackers which have good quality updates (with varying slants).

You can curate a list of accounts that report events(from different povs) with minimun irrelevant chatter. Follow that list and you get a better stream of events than most news outlets website or channel. No matter how good the news outlets are they are mostly late.

Need better tweet aggregation - weighting by reputation, by specificity of content, bundling together tweets that more or less say the same thing, etc.

It's like those pens for writing on screens. If they're as sensitive as the sensors allow the line is crazy squiggly. If they're over smoothed the line is a graceful curve that doesn't go where you want and still lags by a few seconds. The sweet spot is moderate smoothing.
