Hard to tell, but quite possibly I’ve had a flu rather than a cold these last couple of weeks. Seems like this year’s vaccine had some updates, effectiveness is uncertain, and some new strain has been going around, peaking in December. arstechnica.com/science/2019/1

It’s really hard to tell symptoms apart, but the duration and intensity for me seem closer to flu. Apparently there’s no way to tell without a test. There really should be a cheap early home test for this.
Also the vaccine design is like an annual war against an alien species.

The flu shot is a false sense of security. It’s not a regular magic-bullet style vaccine targeting a particular virus or bacterium. More like a shotgun with 4 (this year) common strains of a large family and a hope that one of the 4 will “rhyme” with whatever you get exposed to
