Ok really enjoyed Mandalorian Ep. 4 in the same way I enjoyed Rogue One. A tiny subplot element in the movies (in this case a single imperial walker that we saw several of in the B-plot in Return of the Jedi, played for laughs vs Ewoks) is the villain in a seven samurai type plot

7 samurai = 2 Mandalorian apparently I’m going to call such stories fractal origin stories. Where a roughly sketched element in a macro world is detailed in a micro way, adding depth to your appreciation of the original

Fractal origin stories are to extended universes what regular origin stories are to simple trilogy type series. I think we’re seeing the birth of a new genre here. Imagine possibilities: An entire show about invention of light saber Robots series explaining evolution to R2D2

In the long run original material like E4-6 will be seen as mere rough storyboard concepts and the grand narratives like Ep 1-9 will be seen as the boring skeleton hagiography by self-aggrandizing elites.

There will be a series called People’s History of The Force, a revisionist account casting all of them — the Skywalkers, Kenobis, and Palpatines — as corrupt elites like Bushes, Clintons, and Trumps. Featuring a young radical named Zinn who was once that sellout Yoda’s friend.
