Things come back every generation, but we live about 4 generations. So every enduring thing is “new” to the Discourse about 4 times. Antialiasing filter = don’t assume anything new has actually happened simply because a new group is talking about it like its new.

Oh yeah. I also find it weird that when something isn’t part of a core curriculum or canon, it has to be in some sense perpetually rediscovered

Recall: me unveiling Unix as a concept / environment to your team in 2006. I learned about in the late 90s. It had already been around for close to 30 years at that point. See also: kids today learning Docker.
