Is it just me or are we experiencing a slightly exhausting glut of people reading and summarizing huge volumes of books? Kinda like professional readers... reading for the sake of reading rather than as a side effect of figuring something out for themselves.

I have to contemplate the motivating incentives involved. How much of that content is produced and/or consumed by people trying to compensate for lacking conventional credentials, & how might it relate to trends around the rise of tech & the decline of humanities-based education?

I certainly prefer this culture of collegesque autodidactism to the tedium of actual annual crops of sophomore essays on monocultural curricular assignments. There’s at least a different kind of variety.
