/ i dont think expensive vacuums get you much more than not needing to do either of these things as frequently though i would pay a bit more money for a stronger suction

/ the best vacuum design is one that’s got a reusable canister with a washable filter. avoid disposable bags (thats more waste and added expense)

/ i hear good things about robot vacuums, but find it odd that ive never seen discussions about cleaning out their canisters

/ another reusable thing that i just got into: home air filters. you can wash them off with a garden hose; they’re supposed to last a few years

/ this auto filtration company just put out a line of them; they're the highest MERV that i could find in washable knfilters.com/home-air-filte

/96 if you're like me and end up with blood stains in clothing from time to time — cold water, a bar of soap + scrubbing the stain against itself works pretty well. try to get to it before it dries

/97 don't use hot water on blood stains!!!

/ believe it or not, i dont actually clean house all that frequently, maybe every 4-6 mos. it's dirty floors that put me over the edge

/ my favorite thing about cleaning my own place empowers you to make bigger messes because you know what it’ll take to get it clean again (often less time than you think!)

/ but I’d totally understand if you hire a professional (you should totally hire a professional!!) when i lived in SF, we found someone from La Colectiva, a worker owned cleaning coop lacolectivasf.org
