When you get to make your own custom avatar on a platform it’s revealing what you do. I remember first noticing this in second life. I made a boring approximation of how I think I look but most people I knew made up fantasy aspirational body types, weird hair and clothes etc.

Every game that has detailed facial customization I always take reference photos and try to make the closest avatar I can to my real face. I think I got closest in fallout 4.
