Friend once pointed out that “health” is 3 things that are in tension: athleticism, longevity, and health qua health (as in freedom from disease and low risk for stuff like heart disease). Pursuing any of the 3 aggressively tends to compromise the other 2.

I think this cold is 100% more severe than it should have been because I unwisely did a weights workout the evening of the day I first felt a slight sense of a cold coming on. I imagine workout recovery temporarily weakens immune system.

I think even if you could it’s a bad idea for most people. I just have a cold now but I am pretty sure I made it worse by working out.

If you’re already healthy and with a strong immune system, you can risk it. But otherwise it’s probably unwise to work out even with cold symptoms.
