And no driving somewhere or taking transit to take a walk doesn’t do it. That is a special outing, not an element of daily routine.

I even used to like the barren suburban desert sidewalks of Vegas for walks

I’m worried about this as I’m moving to LA from a dense city. I hear downtown is nice to walk around in though?

Don't live in downtown, and your neighborhood is very likely to be walkable.
@vgr should move if he likes to walk. - Show replies

It's what I love about where I stay in SG - and I gather much of the city supports this (I moved recently). Where I lived in Bangalore did not.

DTLA is an odd downtown. It only relatively recently recovered from a long period of post WWII decline, since about 2000. When I visited for 1st time in 2002/3, it still felt run-down, full of discount stores. It has boomed since still feels like it's recovering to me

Is it the noise of cars? Navigating amongst people? Stopping at crosswalks? Air pollution? Poisoned infinite aimless wandering definitely a thing. Super curious what your reasons are.

All of the above
