how come journalists haven't switched to asking for email q&a by default instead of asking for a call? so much easier to say yes, plus helps that I have my own record of stuff I said... it feels archaic, like congresspeople needing people to call

It’s very easy to control your answers when it is text but with speech people can meander and lose their train of thought - if a journo wants to get someone off their talking points to an original thought a call will achieve better than written statements

otoh, people with no particular reason to want to be in the media are likely to simply say no, so it's a double-edged sword...
