I find the phrasing confusing. Where are you counting likes at?

You should do more tweets per like if you have too few followers to challenge yourself
I’m giving people prompts I suspect they can take to 100 tweets, and if they’re using likes to drive it most won’t get to 100 likes unless they go a bit viral

Hm, either i'm missing something obvious or taking it too literally. So far i can't seem to find a cheap way to get a total amount of likes an account received.

Then we hit a full recursion - how can i do more tweets per like if need to tweet to get the likes?

You’re the only person in the multiverse confused about this 😆
Step 1: tweet something like “I’m doing a thread about X, 1 tweet per like”. This is the root tweet. You track likes on ONLY this tweet not the whole evolving thread or your account. As likes come in, you tweet more

Doubling back, i was thinking of a whole thread as a "one opinion", instead of each tweet in a thread being considered an opinion.

Some people are doing it that way, which I guess is fine for very tangled topics, others are doing the true 100 discrete opinions style

The more i think it, the more uncomfortable i am with this topic. Most of what i can say would be hearsay, romanization and opinions of the side of BESM vs ESEVM conflict my former professors happened to be on. I'll either be speaking out of my backpipe or quoting a history book.
