I think it’s much less complicated than this: if you run a wildly unpopular candidate, especially one who refuses to take a clear stand on the issue of the day, most of the time you lose.

Agreed that is the read across to the USA, however the 'issue' remains immigration, at heart - which unfortunately means the Democrats don't have a policy, and 'build a wall' is one, exactly like ? Vs 'get brexit done' is in UK.
