If you work for a company that’s harvesting a market in terminal decline rather than pioneering, growing, or sustaining one, by default you’ll be a dead player. To come alive again, you have to get in on a disruption story (externally or internally) or turn into a proper vulture.

This is a deep psychological risk a lot of long-term employees don’t notice till it’s too late. Work is the biggest part of identity for people who must work for a living. Not family or hobbies. If the employer is dying, you’re dying with it unless you do something about it.
