There’s two kinds of writers. The first kind, if you get to know them, you stop reading them. The second kind, if you get to know them, you start reading them. I’m mostly the first type, so for me, the cost of making friends with a reader is often losing that reader.

I suppose most of what I wrote is actually just small-shell-script version of me. Mini-me writers versus separate-from-me writers.

In a way this is why I have a viable consulting practice, even though I never try to write stuff explicitly to market the consulting (that basically never works for me)
