Yeah alright - I'm buying that Roam > Workflowy and I think I'll adopt it. Definitely feels bleeding edge - UI more wonky and some keypresses do unexpected things! But I can handle that for now.... roamresearch.com

Killer feature list:
- Import PDF
- Auto import and index all linked URLs
- Public Roam's (see thread with VGR on elderblogging)
- I enjoy workflowy's daily email summary (peace of mind that stuff is pro-actively exporting to my gmail every day)

Ah nice how do you publish a public roam?

Make it publicly viewable or publicly editable then share link, for now

I’m unclear on how this works. Does ‘page permissions’ refer just to that page? Is the database all my pages or just one?

Page permissions turns on shareable individual pages, will probably just make that default this week

If you make publicly viewable or editable from the "share" option it is for whole db (all pages) if you do share page it's just that page. Need to clarify the UI

Honestly I think the clarity you need comes from having two separate modals:
(could even re-use the actual modal code, the point is for the user to not feel confused about what they're doing)

Have a setting for blog mode vs notes mode
The daily note is an example of this modal schizophrenia. Dated daily entries are a good default prompt for blog mode. But for notes something like a single Inbox note will do.
Oh you’re talking about the specific modal dialog not 2 use modes 😆
That too

The advantage of daily notes + tags/back-links is I have multiple inboxes with overlap.
When I sit down to do emails I have an inbox looking at TODO + [[email]]
When deciding what to watch when vegging I go to my #[[watch]] page and filter for [[TODO]] to see what is left.

Similarly for ideas
I can watch my ideas on [[Bi-temporal databases]] evolve over time.
A few quick notes about that topic and datomic goes in the daily note nested under
[[Bi-temporal databases]] [[datomic]]
- x
- y
- z
For later filtering

I think that the daily notes feature, while not fully well-developed atm (eg you can't see a week at a glance or search of "mentions of the term 'slacking' on a monday") is actually valuable for providing a basic scaffold for dumping stray thoughts without needing to process them
