Would you rather be rich if interesting?

Been picking interesting every time; doesn’t feel like I have much of a say in the choice

I feel the same, but it doesn't have to be a binary, just often is. It's amazing that self-made rich people aren't really smarter than average, but maybe just more obsessed with success and also just very lucky in starting conditions and along the way.

Whenever I use the word “interesting” people seem to either conflate with “smart” or even directly substitute. The two are not the same for me. Interesting: ability to surprise me repeatedly Smart: ability to think through complex and messy information to make good decisions

Many rich people are also smart people. Few are interesting. Many interesting people are also smart people. Few are rich. Almost nobody is rich and interesting without being smart. Maybe some trusties.

Yea, I agree smart != interesting, and that they're different. The average rich person probably is a business owner with a 120 IQ and interesting level of Time magazine.

Give a non-living example :D

A confounding factor is that domain knowledge affects whether people seem smart or interesting. I think Jobs reads as interesting to techies and smart to non-techies. Non-techies probably can’t distinguish between him and Wozniak (clearly smart but not very interesting)

It biases interesting to polymaths then. I don't think DaVinci was that interesting though, though he was creative.
