The dark mirror of the “professional managerial class,” which I suppose is a subgroup of “educated elite professional” that’s neither elite nor especially professional.

There’s an important difference between “college educated” and “PMC” and I think “college educated, but not PMC” is the perfect description of the ideological drivers, at least in the beginning (and also the original Sanders base.)

For which part? Even the existence of the “PMC” is debated, let alone its true nature, so there isn’t really a name for the thing I’m identifying, which is basically “well educated but downwardly mobile and therefore radicalized” a la “eşkiya”

Fun fact: during the Classical Ottoman period, there were so many students in the elite colleges and so few elite professorships and judgeships available that most graduates of elite colleges became brigands and bandits in Anatolia!

I was professionally for a few years, copywriting etc., but now that’s my hobby/side hustle. I’m a legal assistant, which means, per the (half-)joke I always make, I practice law without a license.
