Mrs. Maisel would be more watchable for me if it were set in contemporary times. The Mad Men/Downton Abbey style period setting adds nothing to the story so far. Memberberry coating. Kinda annoying.

Yeah no. I don’t feel it for period dramas set in places I *have* lived. If it’s not relevant to the story, period setting for nostalgia alone is wasted on me. Afaict stand-up scenes work similarly today so the story relevance is moot so far (5 episodes in)
