The Rick and Morty line “don’t think about it” is a distant, less hostile cousin that disregards general weirdness rather than a specific antagonist

where it doesn’t work is where the target clearly has less power than you, in which case it degenerates to regular contempt rather than ok-to-power like a guy saying “ok metoo” would backfire badly

I hear a note of humility too as in, “I don’t have the right answer but yours is obviously too simplistic and not even wrong”

Also done right it breaks identity politics. By acknowledging a label the other party can’t/won’t challenge, you peg the view as saying more about the self-identification than the matter at hand. It boxes up the view in an identity

In all cases, the main necessary and almost sufficient condition for ok * to work is that * must have just trotted our a very *-ey derp in an attempt to coerce engagement out of the okayer. If there isn’t a derp move it’s much harder to deploy effectively. Derp momentum judo.

i do like that "ok boomer" is discarding a view, a statement: refusing to accept someone's judgement, whereas unfriend & unfollow sets up a more irrevocable unbridgeable gap. you've used background to disregard, but it doesn't mean you're going to discard everything they say.

the statement of resistance though, how great! how missing on the internet! too often we dive into words & arguments, but we have so few- exactly as you say- protocols to anti-meme. not nearly enough "-1, irrelevant" as a protocol, not enough "ok [wrongie]".
