Wait, this is not strictly true right? Eventual does not mean infinitely far off. When the poll closes, the time stamps of votes in the twitter db will in fact have an absolute order, upto the precision of atomic clocks. It's just that during the transient the order is unstable.

I mean, yes assuming that those rows are timestamped. But to the first N people who vote, they will all appear to be the first voter on a poll.
