Stripe is super convenient for invoicing, and avoiding the headaches of POs and vendor management systems in favor of corp credit cards is totally worth it, but if you're used to ACH direct deposits or checks... man the tx fee feels painful. On a 10k invoice, fees are $290.3 😬

Of course, it's much worse if you're in a volume business. 10k earned via 1000 $10 sales is $590, so about $300 more. The $0.30 per-tx fee really adds up in volume ops.

Gravity Payments has reached out to me previously; do you know if they are worth a second look as a viable option to Stripe?

No I haven't looked at their pricing structure. But I don't think they have the extensive integrations with lots of online services Stripe does. Most services I use, Paypal and Stripe are the only options.

you could charge the client for the ability to pay with credit card. many won't blink.

I find it easier to simply absorb the costs and set an appropriately higher base rate

So sorry for any surprises here! We do offer ACH payments, which have a much lower fee:

It gets worse when you have to convert into a different currency. Not Stripe; bank transfers. Don't have the exact numbers, but used to be around 4-5% for my USD invoices.
